Therapeutic Effects of Trimebutine Maleate (Polybutine^(®)) to Gastrointestinal symptoms in children

Abstract
|
|
|
Therapeutic effects of Trimebutine were studied for gastrointestinal symptoms in 46 cases of infancy with syrup and 48 cases with tablet and placebo.
Trimebutine was given lml/kg/day of syrup and 5mg/kg/day of tablet, orally, in three divided doses.
The results were as follows
1. Of the 46 cases of infancy with gastrointestinal symptoms who treated with syrup, 36 cases (78. 2%) and 5 cases (10. 9%) showed good and fair responses, respectively.
2. Of the 35 cases of children with gastrointestinal symptoms who treated with tablet, 21 cases(60%) and 10 cases(28.6%) showed good and fair responses, respectively. And placebo group showed good (8.7%) and fair (30.4%) responses only.
3. Any side effect was not noted in all groups.
